Statement from Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger Regarding City Contractor Fatality at Naperville Train Station

On the evening of December 1, 2025, Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the Naperville Train Station at 105 E. 4th Avenue following reports of an incident involving a train and an individual. The investigation revealed that the victim, an adult male contractor for the City, was operating snow removal equipment on the station's south platform when the equipment he was driving was struck by an eastbound freight train. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries.

“This is a profound tragedy, and on behalf of the City of Naperville, I extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our employees and contractors deliver vital services to the community daily, and their safety is of paramount importance to us. The loss of life in this manner is heartbreaking.
