Grundy County Man Charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm following Naperville Police Investigation into November 2025 Incident

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced that Judge Maureen Riordan granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a Grundy County man accused of stopping a vehicle in Naperville and robbing one of the vehicle’s occupants at gunpoint last November. Timmothy Hadley, 18 (d.o.b. 3/13/2007) of the 800 block of Back Bay Court, Minooka, appeared in First Appearance Court yesterday morning charged with one count of Armed Robbery with a Firearm (Class X Felony), one count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon – no FOID (Class 4 Felony) and six counts of Misdemeanor Aggravated Assault.

On November 24, 2025, at approximately 9:12 p.m., four individuals in a black Honda Pilot were allegedly being followed by a white Nissan Sentra and a Grey Kia as they drove through downtown Naperville. It is alleged that as the Honda approached the intersection of Sleigh Street and School Street, the Nissan pulled in front of the Honda and stopped and the Kia pulled up behind the Honda, blocking the Honda from driving backwards. It is further alleged that once stopped, an individual holding a handgun and wearing a hoodie and a balaclava face mask, later identified as Hadley, got out of the back passenger side of the Sentra and approached the Honda. It is further alleged that Hadley pulled on the driver’s side door handle and when the door did not open, he went to the back window and ordered one of the back seat occupants to give him his cellular phone. It is alleged that the occupant of the Pilot complied and gave Hadley his phone after which, Hadley threw the phone on the ground before returning to the Nissan and fleeing the scene. Following an investigation, authorities identified Hadly as a suspect in the armed robbery. Authorities also learned that the occupants of the Pilot allegedly had a previous encounter with Hadley approximately two to three hours earlier that evening. On February 11, 2026, Naperville police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Hadley was traveling in and took him into custody.

“The allegations Mr. Hadley stopped a vehicle, disguised his identity, armed himself with a gun and then approached the vehicle and robbed one of the occupants are outrageous,” Berlin said. “I assure the residents of DuPage County that this type of alleged behavior will not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law. Public safety is my office’s top priority, and we remain committed to the prosecution of violent crime. I commend the Naperville Police Department for their outstanding work in the identification and apprehension of the defendant in this case. I thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Michael Pingaj and Bethany Jackson for their efforts in preparing a strong case against Mr. Hadley.”

Hadley’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 9, 2026, in front of Judge Mia McPherson.
