Naperville Police Arrest Aurora Convicted Felon Charged with Possessing Multiple Firearms, Including Machine Gun

(The following is a joint news release from the Naperville Police Department and the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office)

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced today that last week Judge Joshua Dieden granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for an Aurora convicted felon accused of possessing multiple firearms, including a machine gun, as well as nearly 775 grams of Cocaine. Dionte Neustadter, 46 (d.o.b. 1/20/1980) of the 500 block of Grosvenor Lane, appeared at First Appearance Court last Thursday charged with one count of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine Between 400-900 Grams (Class X Felony), one count of Aggravated Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 1 Felony), one count of Possession of a Machine Gun (Class 2 Felony), eight counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony) and one count of Misdemeanor Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer.

In early January 2026, detectives with the Naperville Police Department received information to be on the lookout for a 2024 Ford F150 Raptor with Tennessee license plates that was possibly stolen and was located in Naperville on multiple occasions. On January 15, 2026, officers with the Naperville Police Department observed the white Ford Raptor at a gas station on N. Aurora Road. After the Ford left the gas station northbound on Raymond Drive, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after allegedly observing the Ford commit a traffic violation. The Ford came to a stop and after an officer approached the passenger side window, the driver allegedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed and escaped. Through their investigation, authorities identified Neustadter as the alleged driver of the vehicle. On February 24, 2026, officers took Neustadter into custody as he stood outside his vehicle in the 1100 block of East Ogden Avenue. It is alleged that when authorities took Neustadter into custody, he was in possession of approximately 21 grams of cocaine. After executing a search warrant at Neustadter’s home, authorities allegedly located a stolen Ford Raptor key fob, a 22 pistol modified with an automatic switch that was reported stolen out of Country Club Hills, a loaded Glock 17 pistol, a loaded Springfield Hellcat pistol, a loaded Smith & Wesson Shield pistol, a loaded, shortened AR-15 rifle ghost gun, a loaded Kimber Ultra Carry pistol reported stolen out of Whiteside County, a loaded Taurus handgun with defaced serial numbers, a loaded Springfield XD pistol, $47,120 in United States currency and approximately 753 grams of cocaine.

“The arrest of the defendant in this case is a testament to the professional, vigilant work of the Naperville Police Department,” Berlin said. “After receiving information regarding a possibly stolen Ford F150 Raptor, officers kept an eye out and one week later located the vehicle. This heads-up work not only led to the recovery of the allegedly stolen vehicle, but also resulted in the removal of multiple illegally owned firearms, including a machine gun, and nearly 775 grams of cocaine from our streets. Their efforts also led to charges against Mr. Neustadter, a convicted felon who, by law, is not allowed to legally possess a firearm. I sincerely thank the Naperville Police Department for their efforts on this case and their continued efforts in keeping our neighborhoods safe as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Paup for his efforts in securing charges against Mr. Neustadter.”

“What started out as an investigation into a possible stolen vehicle rapidly expanded in scope and complexity, but our investigators didn’t miss a beat,” Arres said. “They processed an extraordinary amount of evidence and information and put together a solid case against a convicted felon allegedly in possession of not only the stolen vehicle but also eight firearms and large amounts of illegal drugs. I’m grateful for their efforts on behalf of our community and thankful to State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and his staff for their support.”

Neustadter’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 23, 2026, in front of Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
