Naperville Police Arrest Wheaton Man for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, Naperville Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue Kia sedan on the 0-100 block of Whispering Hills Drive. When the officer approached the car, he reportedly smelled and saw evidence of cannabis use in the vehicle and instructed the driver to exit the car. The driver allegedly refused to exit the vehicle and fled the traffic stop at a high rate of speed through a residential area. 

The driver – later identified as Jahron J. Faulkner, 24, of the 700 block of West Liberty Drive, Wheaton – ultimately stopped the vehicle between two apartment buildings on the 100 block of South Whispering Hills Drive and fled on foot. The officer pursued on foot and arrested Faulkner.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin (mushrooms), traces of cannabis, a large amount of cash, and more than a dozen cell phones.

Faulkner is charged with the following offenses:

• Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (more than 15 but less than 100 grams) – Class X felony
• Possession of Methamphetamine (more than 15 but less than 100 grams) – Class 1 felony
• Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding – Class 4 felony
• Possession of a Controlled Substance – Class 4 felony
• Obstruction – Class A misdemeanor
• Resisting Arrest – Class A misdemeanor
• Unlawful Possession of Cannabis by a Driver – Class A misdemeanor
• Improper Window Tinting – Petty Offense

Fleeing from the police at a high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood puts innocent people at risk, and we will not tolerate that kind of dangerous behavior in our community,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “Thanks to the work of the officer who initiated this stop and the team that supported the investigation, a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine and other illegal drugs were taken off the street and the individual allegedly responsible is facing serious charges. If you come to Naperville and engage in criminal activity, our officers will work aggressively to identify you, arrest you, and hold you accountable.”

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
