Structure Fire in 1800 Block of Paxton Drive
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:39 a.m., the Naperville Fire Department was dispatched to a single-family residence following reports of an exterior fire. The initial call, received by the Naperville Emergency Communications Center, indicated that a refuse container positioned against the home had ignited.
A general alarm was immediately dispatched, sending 24 personnel and 10 pieces of fire apparatus to the scene. The first unit arrived at 11:40 a.m. and reported that the exterior of the home was actively burning, with flames extending into the attic area. The sole occupant of the home had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department.
Firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to suppress the fire and prevent further spread. Simultaneously, additional crews conducted searches to ensure everyone was safely outside and that the fire had not extended into the interior of the home.
Through aggressive fire attack and coordinated efforts, the fire was declared under control at 11:49 a.m. Crews remained on scene for approximately 30 additional minutes to conduct overhaul, extinguish remaining hot spots, and monitor for potential re-ignition.
There were no injuries reported to the resident or responding personnel. Following an inspection, the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Department deemed the residence uninhabitable. Estimated damage to the structure and contents exceeds $100,000. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Naperville Police Department, the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, the Aurora Fire Department, the Naperville Electric Department, and the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Department.
