Structure Fire in the 200 Block of Cedarbrook Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 07:33 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 911 call reporting smoke and possible fire inside a residence on the 200 block of Cedarbrook Road. The Naperville ECC immediately dispatched a general alarm response consisting of three engines, two trucks, two medic units, one heavy rescue and three battalion vehicles of three engines to the residence. Initial arriving companies completed a 360-degree survey of the structure, provided an on-scene report and established command. Responding units found smoke showing from the front of the home on arrival. The fire was confined to the basement of the structure. All occupants of the residence were confirmed out of the structure. Fire suppression companies extinguished the fire, conducted ventilation operations and searched the occupancy for fire extension and remaining life-safety concerns. After the fire had been extinguished, fire suppression crews continued to overhaul the fire area, ensuring the hazard was contained.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. Damage to the residence and contents was estimated at $70,000. The initial fire investigation deemed the cause of the fire as accidental. The occupancy was deemed uninhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development Group. One Naperville Police Officer was transported from the scene for smoke inhalation and has since been released.
