Structure Fire in the 2100 Block of Citygate Lane

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 6:49 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a fire alarm activation on the alarm board. The ECC immediately dispatched a dual response consisting of two fire suppression units to investigate the alarm activation on the 2100 block of Citygate Lane. Before arrival, the responding suppression units were notified that a fire was reported in a residential unit.

The alarm was immediately upgraded to a full still assignment consisting of two engines, one ladder truck, one medic unit and two battalion commanders. Fire suppression companies completed a 360-degree survey of the structure, provided an on-scene report and established command. Upon making entry into the occupancy, crews confirmed that the fire was extinguished by the fire suppression sprinkler system. All occupants were confirmed out of the structure. Crews performed an overhaul of the fire area and secured the sprinkler system, ensuring the hazard was contained.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. As a result of the fire, several occupants were displaced. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
