Structure Fire in the 30W000 Block of Argyll Lane

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, Naperville’s Emergency Communication Center (ECC) received a call reporting a structure fire in a detached garage located in the 30W000 block of Argyll Lane. The Naperville ECC dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an incident commander and incident safety officer, to the reported address.

At 1:18 p.m., the first vehicle arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the detached garage roof. Fire companies ensured all residents were out of the structure and adjacent house and then quickly stretched a single hose line to contain the fire. At 1:23 p.m., the fire was deemed under control by incident command. Fire companies remained on the scene for another thirty minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and to vent residual smoke.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department and ComEd to secure utilities. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no reported injuries to any occupants or firefighters. The fire was estimated to have caused $40,000 in damage, and the nearby house was unaffected.
