Supna Jain

Councilwoman

Councilwoman Supna Jain was appointed to fill the vacant City Council seat formerly held by Councilwoman Allison Longenbaugh, who resigned in August 2025.

A second-generation Indian American, Jain is the first woman of color to serve on Naperville’s City Council. She brings her experience as an educator and a community advocate to her role, having served for over four years on the Indian Prairie School District (IPSD) 204 Board of Education, most recently as the vice president. She chose to serve on the City Council to broaden her impact beyond education, bring an underrepresented perspective to the table and shape neighborhoods through policy.

Jain has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies and Political Science from the University of Illinois, a Juris Doctor of Law from DePaul University, and a Master of Science in Communications Studies from Illinois State University. She is currently the Principal Lecturer in Communication and Media Studies and Faculty Director for the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence at North Central College. She also directs the campus’s Speaking Center.

Jain was first elected to the IPSD 204 School Board in 2021 and re-elected in 2025. During her time on the board, she worked to strengthen public education, cultivate community partnerships, and ensure transparency, accountability and strategic resource allocation. Before her service on the school board, Jain was a member of Naperville Neighbors United and the IPSD Parent Diversity Advisory Council.

Jain and her husband have two teenage boys that currently attend IPSD 204 schools. Since 2013, Jain has taught dance at the Naperville Park District and is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Aavegh Dance Troupe, an artistic outlet for young professionals in the Chicago area. In her spare time, Jain spends time with her friends and family and enjoys watching foreign films, hiking and visiting national parks.

On the City Council, Jain aims to shape neighborhoods through zoning, housing, transportation, infrastructure, and mental health policies, all of which directly affect schools and families. She believes in the importance of collaboration and looks forward to working with others to find well-informed and practical solutions to complex problems.

Councilwoman Jain will serve the remainder of Councilwoman Longenbaugh’s term, which expires in April 2027.
