The City of Naperville recently developed a new and improved process for organizations and businesses seeking to obtain a Tent Permit.
Step 1: Complete the Appropriate Paperwork
Download and complete the Tent Permit Application Packet. Your completed application must include all the necessary information listed on the Tent Permit Requirements Sheet.
Step 2: Attend Tenant Build Out Meeting
The City of Naperville hosts a weekly mandatory informational meeting for anyone seeking to obtain a Tent Permit. Please make sure to bring your completed permit application and required additional information with you to this meeting. If your paperwork is properly completed and the appropriate approvals are granted, you may be issued a permit following this meeting.
Naperville Municipal Center
Lower Level Meeting Rooms A&B
Naperville, IL 60540
Meetings are held every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
At this meeting, you will meet with a city Planner, a Plans Examiner, a Project Assistant, as well as representatives from the Electric and Fire Departments. These City representatives will be on hand to guide you through the application process by reviewing your plans, advising you of appropriate inspections and educating you on the city's fire and electrical codes.
Step 3: Receiving Your Permit
Once the appropriate paperwork has been completed and reviewed by the city, our hope is to issue your Tent Permit. Occasionally, the city requires additional information before approving a permit. If your permit cannot be approved, you will need to provide the additional information requested for further review by the city.
In some instances, Special Events held within the city require additional permits from the City Clerk's Office and may require approval by the Naperville City Council, which can take up to 60 days. If you have questions about the Special Event approval process within the City of Naperville, please contact
Dawn Portner, Special Events Coordinator
