Naperville Accepting Applications for 2027 Special Event Permits
Completed applications must be submitted by July 8, 2026
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The City of Naperville is accepting special event applications for events occurring during the 2027 calendar year. Applications must be submitted through the City’s website using the Civic Access portal by Wednesday, July 8.
All outdoor events held on City property, e.g., streets, sidewalks, parks, etc., are considered special events, as well as events deemed to significantly impact the city. An event that requests any of the following actions, which must be approved by the City Council, will be considered a special event and require a special event permit:
- Events requiring street closures (with the exception of neighborhood block parties).
- Events that require the closure of parking facilities and/or the use of city-owned property.
- Events that require the posting of “No Parking, Tow Zones.”
Applicants must submit their special events permit application using the Civic Access portal. Civic Access gathers all the information needed to apply, pay for and manage permits in one place. During the special event permit application process, applicants will need to upload four required documents:
- Special Events Notarized Agreement
- New for 2027: Special Events Memorandum of Understanding
- Special Event Sustainability Checklist
- A site plan and/or route map
Completed special event permit applications must be submitted by July 8, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to view the Special Events Resource Guide, Special Events Sustainability Guide, the Special Events Accessibility Checklist and the 2026 Special Events Seminar presentation at www.naperville.il.us/eventpermit.
Some events may require supplemental licenses and permits (e.g., liquor, fireworks, amplifiers, tents, etc.). In these instances, the Special Events Team will work with the event organizer to determine what is needed.
