Safety Town

Run by the non-profit Safety Town Commission in cooperation with the Naperville Police and Fire Departments, this miniature town includes streets, tiny buildings, traffic signs and signals, a railroad crossing and a classroom used throughout the year for various safety and health related programs tailored to different age groups.

Programs

Summer Safety Program

This week-long safety awareness and prevention class is geared toward children entering kindergarten or first grade and reinforces the skills being taught with hands-on activities, stories, games, songs and videos. The Naperville Police and Fire Departments help teach various portions of the program.

Safe Sitter Classes

The Naperville Police and Fire Departments have partnered with Safety Town to teach 11 to 15 year olds how to become safe and responsible babysitters.

Scouting Programs

Naperville Police Department's Community Education Specialists and Crime Scene Technicians help Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts earn required safety badges in the Junior Girl Scout “Detective Badge” Workshop and "CSI-Cub Scouts Investigate" program at Safety Town. These programs introduce Forensic Science and raise awareness of crime prevention and safety within the community. Additionally, these programs introduce Scouts to the duties and responsibilities of law enforcement.
