Storm Updates

City crews have been responding to the impacts of severe weather that moved through Naperville on June 10 and 11. There were no reported injuries to the public or to City employees.

Below is a recap of the City's response, along with important information for residents about a special citywide brush collection.

    Special Brush Collection

A special free citywide bulk brush collection began on Monday, June 15. Of note:

    • City and contractor crews will be working quickly to make one collection pass throughout the entire city. To ensure your brush is collected as part of this special pick-up, you must have had it out by the morning of Monday, June 15.
    • You do not need to cut, tie, sticker, or bag brush. Bagged brush won't be picked up as part of the special citywide collection because the collected brush is ground up, and bags interfere with this process. Any yard waste bags left at the curb will need a sticker and will be collected as part of the weekly yard waste program.
    • The special collection is expected to conclude by the end of the day on Saturday, June 27. After that time, any remaining brush on private property must be disposed of through the weekly yard waste program or by a privately contracted tree removal company.
    Tree Debris Removal

Public Works has received 539 service requests as of 8 a.m. on June 12. Initial response after the June 10 storm focused on clearing tree limbs and branches from roadways, and all roads that were fully blocked were opened by midnight. Efforts are moving from ensuring roads are open and passable to the clean-up phase. Crews will continue to respond to service requests from these back-to-back storms throughout June. Thank you for your patience.

    Electric Outages

As of 5 a.m. on June 12, there are no known power outages, with the exception of individual customers whose electrical equipment attached to their homes was damaged by the June 10 storm and requires repair before restoration. The Electric Utility is coordinating directly with these customers for post-storm repair assistance.
