Municipal Center Parking Deck Maintenance Starts July 5
Maintenance work on lower level will take place in two phases through end of August
Beginning Wednesday, July 5, the City of Naperville, in partnership with J.Gill and Company, will begin maintenance work on the lower level of the Municipal Center parking deck, located at 400 S. Eagle St. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete, and all parking spaces available by the end of August 2023.
Construction on the deck will occur in two phases. The first phase involves the closure of the entrance from Webster Street and the east half of the lower deck. The second phase involves the closure of the entrance from Eagle Street and the west half of the lower deck. Due to the nature of the work, no parking will be available on the portion of the deck where work is being performed. While one half of the parking level will be open at all times, visitors are encouraged to park on the upper level of the deck during construction.
Although accessible parking spaces may need to be temporarily relocated, the same number of spaces will be maintained, with a goal of keeping at least two accessible parking spaces available on the lower level. The 24/7 utility payment drive-thru, drop box that is normally located in the lower of the parking garage will be temporarily relocated to the circle drive in front of the main entrance to the Municipal Center for the duration of the work.
This work, which includes concrete repairs and the application of an epoxy coating overlay and new stripping, is part of a multi-year maintenance plan to ensure the parking facility is maintained as a sustainable asset. The Municipal Center parking deck is over 30 years old, and certain components are reaching the end of their useful life.
Efforts will be made to keep as many parking spaces available as possible during construction, but visitors to the Municipal Center are reminded to utilize the publicly available parking spaces in the Water Street Parking Facility at 130 S. Water St. across from the Municipal Center at any time. Motorists accessing the deck are asked to please follow all traffic control devices that will be put in place.
