Municipal Center Parking Deck Improvements
Beginning Wednesday, July 5, the City of Naperville, in partnership with J.Gill and Company, will begin maintenance work on the lower level of the Municipal Center parking deck, located at 400 S. Eagle St. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete, and all parking spaces available by the end of August 2023.
- Project Overview
-
This work, which includes concrete repairs and the application of an epoxy coating overlay and new stripping, is part of a multi-year maintenance plan to ensure the parking facility is maintained as a sustainable asset. The Municipal Center parking deck is over 30 years old, and certain components are reaching the end of their useful life.
- Project Updates
-
July 31: Work is in progress on the west half of the lower-level parking deck and the lower-level entrance from Eagle Street and the west half of the lower level is closed. The Webster Street entrance to the lower portion of the deck and the east half of the lower level deck will remain open; however, visitors are encouraged to park in the upper level of the Municipal Center parking deck or the publicly available parking spaces in the Water Street Parking Facility at 130 S. Water St. just east of the Municipal Center.
- Timeline
-
Construction on the deck will occur in two phases. The first phase involves the closure of the entrance from Webster Street and the east half of the lower deck. The second phase involves the closure of the entrance from Eagle Street and the west half of the lower deck. The work schedule is subject to change and all work is weather dependent. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete, and all parking spaces available by the end of August 2023.
- Impacts to Parking and Utility Payment Drop Box
-
Efforts will be made to keep as many parking spaces available as possible during construction but visitors to the Municipal Center are reminded to utilize the upper level of the Municipal Center parking deck or the publicly available parking spaces in the Water Street Parking Deck at 130 S. Water St. across from the Municipal Center at any time. Motorists accessing the deck are asked to please follow all traffic control devices that will be put in place.
Parking on Lower Level: Work will take place in two phases. Crews will work on one half of the lower level per phase, with the first phase of work beginning on the east side of the deck. Due to the nature of the work, no parking will be available on the portion of the deck where work is being performed. While one half of the parking level will be open at all times, visitors are encouraged to park on the upper level of the deck during construction.
Accesible Parking Spaces: Although accessible parking spaces may need to be temporarily relocated, the same number of spaces will be maintained, with a goal of keeping at least two spaces available on the lower level.
Utility Bill Payment Drop Box: The 24/7 utility payment drive-thru, drop box that is normally located in the lower of the parking garage will be temporarily relocated to the circle drive in front of the main entrance for the duration of the work.
