Community Radio Watch volunteer citizens supplement the police force as observers of suspicious or criminal activity and provide additional Police Department supervised security at special events including parades, triathlons, city fairs and activities.

GiGi's Playhouse Fox Valley

GiGi's Playhouse is a Down syndrome achievement center that offers free educational and therapeutic programs to individuals with Down syndrome. Opportunities for senior citizens include: 

  1. Literacy tutors- GiGi's Playhouse provides the training; this is a time commitment of at least 1 hour a week for each student. This would be a great experience for a former teacher.
  2. Gratitude committee - help to write acknowledgements to donors
  3. Programming- write reminder emails/phone calls for programs, create materials for literacy tutoring

People's Resource Center

People’s Resource Center responds to hunger and poverty in DuPage County by offering nutritious food and other basic necessities, such as clothes and rent assistance; opportunities to learn Microsoft Office, ESL, and art; and job-search mentoring. PRC offers more than 70 different volunteer jobs, including food pantry worker, food rescue driver, job search coaching, resume writing and more.
