Naperville Metra Train Station Maintenance
The City has contracted with Robe Construction to perform maintenance at the Naperville Metra Station located at 105 E. 4th Ave. The following work will take place on and around the stairways that lead from the train platform to the sidewalk on Washington Street:
- Handrails will be removed and replaced, along with wall signage.
- Metal panels under both sides of the Washington Street railroad bridge will be replaced.
- As needed, concrete will be repaired and patched.
The handrails and metal paneling are rusting and deteriorating. Replacing them will improve their functionality and durability. Additionally, the new handrails will be ADA-compliant.
Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete by the end of December.

Work will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and will be completed in December.
- Nov. 5 - Nov. 17: The existing handrails will be removed and replaced along the Washington Street stairs.
- Week of Nov. 17: The new handrails will be painted.
- Nov. 17 - December: Work will start under the Washington Street railroad bridge to replace the metal panels.
Project timeline and work is weather-dependent.
Please heed signage and use caution when using the train station's Washington Street stairways.

Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The train station stairways along Washington Street will have intermittent closures. Stairways will reopen during the weekend, and at least one of the stairways will remain open at all times.
When the metal panels are being replaced under the railroad bridge, both sides of the sidewalk will be closed. A detour will be posted to guide pedestrians/commuters.
Pedestrians should follow all posted signage and use caution when accessing the train station stairways and sidewalk along Washington Street. Commuters should allow extra time to get to their train platform.
