Southbound Columbia Street Closure
Southbound Columbia Street is closed between 5th and 8th avenues until approximately May 1 for utility work and road reconstruction. Southbound traffic will be detoured via 8th Avenue, Loomis Street and 5th Avenue. Please follow all posted detours and use caution while driving through this area.
The City has identified the need to improve Columbia Street from Monticello Drive to 5th Avenue. The goal of this project is to create a better driving experience for motorists, as well as better recreational experiences for pedestrians.
The project includes widening the roadway; installing new pavement, curbs and gutters; and a new street lighting system. Additionally, a new sidewalk will be poured on both sides of the roadway from Monticello Drive to 5th Avenue. Work is expected to begin in March 2024 and last through November 2024
