Sustainability Incentives and Rebates
The City of Naperville offers the following incentives and rebates to help residents and utility customers make sustainable improvements.
Electric Lawn Equipment Rebate
Residents who purchase a battery-powered electric lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower, trimmer, edger or manually powered reel lawn mower on or after Jan. 1, 2023 can now apply for a $50 rebate.
To apply, fill out the application form and attach a copy of the purchase receipt. To access the form from the City's online Help Center, choose "Submit a Request," then select "Energy Rebate - Electric Lawn Equipment" from the menu on the left.
Applicants must reside at the address listed on the application, and the address must be within the incorporated City of Naperville limits. Applicants must include include proof of residence (copy of utility bill, driver’s license or state ID). Participants are eligible for one rebate per household per calendar year. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Install a Smart Thermostat
The Electric Utility offers rebates to residential utility customers who buy and install smart thermostats – which adjust automatically and remotely to temperature preferences and help save energy.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebates
The City encourages installation of electric vehicle charging stations and advises customers to contact the Naperville Electric Utility before beginning the installation process. The City is offering up to a $700 rebate for a Level 2 or 3 electric vehicle charging station for residential use and up to a $500 rebate for a Level 2 or 3 charging station for nonresidential use.

Solar Installation Rebates
Naperville Electric Utility customers have the right to interconnect their own solar facilities to the City’s utility distribution system. The Utility offers rebates of $1,000 to $3,000 for residential solar panel installations and provides a solar installation checklist to guide residents through the process.
Renewable Energy Program
The renewable energy program provides funding for non-residential customers to support projects that measurably increase renewable energy usage, displace fossil fuels, create opportunities for our community to learn about renewable solutions and can be replicated. Grants can cover up to 50% of the applicant’s total cost as a $50,000 maximum reimbursement award.

Energy Efficiency
The City offers a variety of rebate and grant programs to support customers installing renewable energy projects, smart thermostats, air conditioners, and energy-efficient attic insulation/windows or scheduling tune-ups for a furnace blower motor or air conditioner. Nicor Gas and the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency offer rebates for Naperville residents as well.
